When selecting surface treatments for automotive aluminum, first clarify the part’s environment (e.g., indoor, general outdoor, coastal high-salt fog, or high-temperature engine compartments) and core performance needs (e.g., corrosion resistance, wear resistance, or conductivity).
For example, for body exterior panels in extreme climates requiring 25+ years of maintenance-free performance, premium weather-resistant fluorocarbon spraying (three coats and one bake) is preferred; for ultra-high wear-resistant components like engines, consider plasma spraying, laser cladding, or micro-arc oxidation.
Next, define aesthetic texture and longevity: anodizing for natural metallic feel and durability; electrophoretic coating for ultimate uniform smoothness. In cost-priority mild environments, powder coating offers the best value; for overall cost-effectiveness and protection, choose “anodizing + electrophoretic” or “anodizing + dyeing + sealing.”
